Your Go-To Pumpkin Pie Spice for Autumn Recipes
Pumpkin pie spice blend is the iconic flavor of autumn—warm, cozy, nostalgic, and incredibly versatile.
Whether you’re whipping up a classic pumpkin pie, making lattes at home, or adding fall flair to your oatmeal, this spice mix delivers that unmistakable seasonal charm.
Making it at home means you’ll always have the freshest version on hand, tailored exactly to your taste preferences.

Store-bought blends can often be bland, stale, or filled with anti-caking agents. But with just five pantry spices, you can make a bold, aromatic mix that adds depth and flavor to everything from desserts to savory recipes. Plus, it makes a wonderful homemade gift when packaged in a cute jar with a custom label.
Why Make Your Own Pumpkin Pie Spice?
Making your own spice blends is a small act with big rewards. Not only does it cost less over time, but you’ll notice an immediate difference in flavor. Freshly measured spices pack more punch and aroma, making your baked goods and drinks noticeably better.
This blend is more than just “pumpkin spice.” It’s a warm symphony of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice—each spice contributing its unique profile to the overall harmony. And even though it’s known for pairing with pumpkin, you’ll find dozens of other ways to use it.
Ingredient Breakdown for Pumpkin Pie Spice
Ground Cinnamon
The warm and sweet base note in nearly all fall recipes, cinnamon adds familiarity and comfort to the blend.
Ground Ginger
With a zesty brightness and slight heat, ginger keeps the blend from being too sweet and adds complexity.
Ground Nutmeg
Nutmeg has a nutty, woody essence that pairs beautifully with baked goods and creamy desserts.
Ground Cloves
Earthy and a bit spicy, cloves give the blend that bold, unmistakable autumn depth.
Ground Allspice
Allspice rounds it all out with subtle hints of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg all in one single spice.
Together, these five spices create a perfectly balanced, warming mix that tastes like fall in every bite.

How to Store Pumpkin Pie Spice
Once mixed, store your pumpkin pie spice in an airtight container away from light and heat. A glass spice jar or small mason jar works perfectly. Be sure to label your jar with the name and date so you can keep track of freshness. The blend will keep for up to a year, though you’ll probably use it up long before then!
