Homemade Chai Syrup Recipe – A Cozy, Spiced Sweetener

Chai syrup is a warm, aromatic sweetener infused with the bold and fragrant spices found in traditional chai tea. Made with cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and other rich spices, this homemade chai syrup is perfect for adding depth to coffee, tea, lattes, and even desserts. If you love the comforting flavors of chai, this easy syrup recipe will quickly become a favorite in your kitchen.

Chai syrup is incredibly versatile, adding a hint of spice and sweetness to a variety of beverages and dishes. Use it to flavor your morning coffee, create the perfect chai latte, or drizzle it over pancakes and ice cream for a unique twist. Unlike store-bought syrups, this homemade version contains no artificial flavors—just pure, aromatic spices blended into a rich, velvety syrup.

How to Use Chai Syrup

This fragrant chai syrup is incredibly versatile. Stir it into espresso or milk for an instant chai latte, add it to iced coffee for a spiced twist, or mix it into cocktails for an exotic flavor boost. It’s also delicious drizzled over oatmeal, pancakes, or even used as a sweetener in baking recipes.

For an even deeper and more balanced flavor, try using whole spices like cinnamon sticks or cardamom pods instead of ground spices. This will create a smoother, richer syrup with a more authentic chai essence.

Storage & Tips

To keep your homemade chai syrup fresh, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will last up to two weeks. Shake or stir before use, as some of the spices may settle at the bottom.

I prefer to store my simple syrups in mason jars, and use lids like pour lids from Mason Jar Lifestyle. Alternatively, I also like to use these bottles which are aesthetic!
