Caramel Simple Syrup
Maria Watkins, LivingPlanetFriendly
caramel is one of my favorite syrups that I use all year round, mixed with a little oat milk in my morning and afternoon coffees, it’s perfect hot or iced
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup filtered water
- ½ cup filtered water
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup of water over
medium heat. Bring mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.
Let the mixture simmer without stirring, allowing it to caramelize for 10-15 minutes.
Once the syrup has reached the desired caramel color and reduced, remove from the heat.
Slowly add the remaining ½ cup filtered water and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Store the simple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
