Herb Cubes

Maria Watkins, LivingPlanetFriendly
Don’t waste those wilting herbs you forgot to use and make herb bombs instead. This method works with almost any herb.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Course Ingredient

Ingredients

  • Bunch of herbs or spinach
  • Avocado or olive oil to cover herbs

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the chosen herbs or spinach.
  • Chop the leaves into small pieces and add them to an empty ice cube tray or 2 tablespoon Souper Cubes Tray. Pack each cube with individual herbs.
  • Cover each cube in your oil of choice; avocado or olive oil work best.
  • Place the tray in the freezer for 6 to 12 hours.
  • Pop out the cubes and store in a freezer-safe bag.
  • To use, add oil cubes to the hot pan. If using cubes in a cold dish like tzatziki, remove the cube from the freezer and let it come up to room temperature before stirring into mixture.

Notes

I love using basil oil cubes to start pasta dishes, dill oil cubes to make tzatziki, and spinach oil cubes to start stir fry dishes. They are also great for frying gnocchi or pierogies.
