This make-ahead cake mix has the convenience of store bought cake mixes without the preservatives! It can also be modified to be changed to any flavor.
Add flour, baking powder, white sugar and salt to a large bowl.
Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are combined.
Transfer to a half gallon mason jar and seal tightly. Store in a cool, dry place.
For Cake
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Add Dry Mix, milk, eggs, butter and extract to the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix until combined, and beat for 4 minutes until the batter is smooth and creamy.
Grease and flour your cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
Divide the batter evenly between cake pans.
Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a fork inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or serving.
Notes
The cake can be made chocolate by adding ½ cup cocoa powder. You can also use different flavored extracts to alter the cake taste!
