Brown Sugar

Brown Sugar often comes in big plastic bags at the grocery store with more than we ever need for one recipe, which is why I make it at home. I can make smaller amounts of what I actually need, and skip the plastic.

Servings 3 cups

Equipment

  • 1 Whisk or Stand Mixer with Whisk Attachment
  • 1 Large Bowl
  • 1 32 oz Mason Jar or airtight container for storage

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups White Granulated Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Light or Dark Molasses Blackstrap Molasses is more bitter

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, whisk together white granulated sugar and molasses until combined. Use a hand whisk, or stand mixer with the whisk attachment for blending. This will take 15 minutes.
  • For Dark Brown Sugar, whisk white granulated sugar and 6 tablespoons of molasses total until combined.
  • Store in an airtight container.

Notes

For Brown Sugar, light or dark molasses is best. Blackstrap molasses is more bitter.
